Delaware-based fabricator expands into Maryland

Wednesday, 12 October 2016 22:17:31 (GMT+3)   |   San Diego

Delaware-based Crystal Steel Fabricators announced today that it plans to open a new manufacturing plant in Federalsburg, Maryland. The company purchased the former ES Steel facility in September for $1.3 million, according to local media, marking the first expansion into the state. Crystal Steel Fabricators also has locations in Pennsylvania, Tennessee and the Philippines.

The company expects to invest over $4 million in the facility, including $2 million in property acquisition and $2 million on equipment, according to the Maryland Department of Commerce. Nearly 130 new employees are expected to be hired within the next two years, including CNC machine operators, welders, and other positions.

The State of Maryland provided a $315,000 loan to be waived if Crystal Steel follows through on those investments and employment goals, while county and local governments provided a 10 percent match of the state’s funding.
