On September 30, the European Union (EU) opened an antidumping (AD) inquiry into stainless seamless pipes and tubes from China.
The case will determine whether the imports in question are "being dumped and whether this dumping has caused injury to the union industry," the European Commission said in the EU's Official Journal. The commission has nine months to impose provisional measures and the EU member states have fifteen months to conclude the investigation as to whether to apply "definitive" levies for five years.
The investigation was requested by an industry group on August 16. In 2009, the EU imposed five-year AD tariffs on various other sorts of seamless pipes from China.
