Euro area annual inflation declines to -0.2 percent in April

Annual inflation in the euro area was -0.2 percent in April this year, down from 0.0 percent in March, according to a report released by Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities. In April 2015, the annual inflation rate was 0.0 percent.
 
Meanwhile, in the European Union (EU-28) annual inflation was also -0.2 percent in April, down from 0.0 percent in March. In April 2015, the annual inflation rate in the EU-28 was 0.0 percent.
 
In April this year, negative annual rates were observed in 17 states in the EU-28. The lowest inflation rates were observed in Romania (-2.6%), Bulgaria (-2.5%) and Cyprus (-2.1%) , while the highest were observed in Belgium (1.5%) and Sweden (1.0%).
