According to first estimates released by Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Union, in February this year the seasonally-adjusted production of the construction sector in the European Union member states (EU-27) rose by two percent compared to January this year and by 2.1 percent compared to the same month of 2022. In January, production in the construction sector had moved up by 3.3 percent month on month.
In the euro area, the seasonally-adjusted production of the construction sector in February increased by 2.3 percent both on month-on-month and year-on-year basis. In January, production had increased by 3.8 percent month on month.
Building construction in the EU-27 in February moved up by 1.9 percent month on month and by two percent year on year, while civil engineering output in the region grew by 2.9 percent both on month-on-month and year-on-year basis. In the euro area, building construction rose by 2.1 percent month on month and by 2.6 percent year on year, while civil engineering output in the region advanced by 3.6 percent month on month and by 2.6 percent year on year.
As compared to February 2022, construction output in February this year increased by 17.5 percent in Slovenia, by 17.0 percent in Austria, and by 10.4 percent in Romania, while it decreased by 11.8 percent in Hungary, by 4.3 percent in the Czech Republic, and by 3.3 percent in Finland.
As compared to January, construction output in February this year increased by 13.3 percent in Austria, by 3.5 percent in the Netherlands, and by 3.1 percent in Romania, while it decreased by 3.7 percent in the Czech Republic, by 1.6 percent in Sweden, and by 0.8 percent in Slovakia.
