Freight volumes on China’s railways down 7.9 percent in January-April

China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) has announced that in April this year the overall freight volume transported on China’s railways amounted to 260 million mt, down 4.5 percent year on year, while the freight traffic volume on Chinese railways totaled 185.9 billion mt-km, decreasing by 5.2 percent year on year.

In the January-April period of the current year, the overall freight volume transported on China’s railways totaled 1.05 billion mt, down 7.9 percent year on year, while the freight traffic volume on Chinese railways amounted to 747.3 billion mt-km, decreasing by 8.3 percent year on year.
