Freight volumes on China’s railways down nine percent in Q1

China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) has announced that in March this year the overall freight volume transported on China’s railways amounted to 274 million mt, down 6.4 percent year on year, while the freight traffic volume on Chinese railways totaled 198.9 billion mt-km, decreasing by 4.4 percent year on year.

In the first quarter of the current year, the overall freight volume transported on China’s railways totaled 791 million mt, down nine percent year on year, while the freight traffic volume on Chinese railways amounted to 561.4 billion mt-km, decreasing by 9.3 percent year on year.
