India’s manufacturing output growth falls to 3-month low of 5% in April

India’s manufacturing output growth as measured by the Index of Industrial Production (IIP) hit a three-month low at five percent in April this year, according to data released by the National Statistical Organisation (NSO) on Thursday, June 13.

Manufacturing growth was recorded at 5.4 percent in March and 5.6 percent in February. The previous low was recorded in January this year at 4.2 percent.

Within the manufacturing sector, the top three positive contributors to the growth of the IIP for the month of April 2024 were basic metals 8.1 percent, coke and refined petroleum products 4.9 percent and motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers at 11.4 percent, according to the government statement.
