After a soft increase in March, Italy’s crude steel production fell again in April. According to the latest update released by Federacciai, the Italian federation of steel companies, crude steel production in Italy amounted to 1.9 million mt in April, down 12.1 percent year-on-year.

In the given month, production in the long segment amounted to about 1.0 million mt, decreasing by 11.7 percent year-on-year. The variation was also down compared to March, which had gone up by 3.3 percent year-on-year. As for the flat segment, production amounted to 814,000 mt, down further by 17.4 percent year-on-year, while in March the annual decrease had been 7.1 percent.
