According to the data provided by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA), in April this year Japanese automobile production (including passenger cars, trucks and buses) totaled 646,438 units, falling by 9.1 percent compared to the same month of 2023. Meanwhile, in the January-April period of 2024, Japanese automobile production decreased by 13.2 percent year on year to 2,551,710 units.
Domestic automobile sales in April in Japan stood at 310,345 vehicles, down by 11.3 percent as compared with the same month of 2023. Meanwhile, in the first four months, domestic automobile sales in Japan moved down by 16.8 percent year on year to 1,441,485 units.
In the meantime, the country’s automobile exports in April amounted to 365,106 units, up by 0.4 percent year on year. In the January-April period, Japanese automobile exports grew by 3.1 percent year on year to 1,358,944 units.
