Japanese auto output down 8.9 percent in January-September

According to the data provided by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA), in September this year Japanese automobile production (including passenger cars, trucks and buses) totaled 741,695 units, down by 9.4 percent compared to the same month of 2023. Meanwhile, in the January-September period of 2024, Japanese automobile production decreased by 8.9 percent year on year to 6,000,903 units.

Domestic automobile sales in September in Japan stood at 438,733 vehicles, up by 0.3 percent as compared with the same month of 2023. Meanwhile, in the first nine months this year, domestic automobile sales in Japan moved down by 8.5 percent year on year to 3,299,869 units.

In the meantime, the country’s automobile exports in September amounted to 370,345 units, down by 10.1 percent year on year. In the January-September period, Japanese automobile exports decreased by 4.0 percent year on year to 3,060,754 units.
