In September this year, Japanese crude steel production decreased 4.4 percent compared to the previous month, while it fell by one percent year on year, totaling 8.8 million mt, according to the data released by the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF). In September, Japanese crude steel production recorded its second consecutive month of decrease on month-on-month basis.
Meanwhile, the country's pig iron production in September this year totaled 6.7 million metric tons, decreasing by 6.6 percent month on month and up 0.9 percent compared to the same month last year.
In the January-September period of this year, the country's pig iron output stood at 61.35 million metric tons, rising by just 0.6 percent, while its crude steel production came to 81.3 million metric tons, rising by 0.4 percent, both compared to the corresponding period of 2011.
