According to the data released by the Republic of Kazakhstan's Agency of Statistics, in the first seven months of 2009 the country registered an 18.8 percent decrease in its crude steel production and a 7.9 percent decrease in its production of flat rolled steel (including a 7.5 percent decline in tinplate and a 4.6 percent drop in galvanized steel), all compared to the data for January-July 2008. The respective figures in metric tons were 2.230 million and 1.730 million (including 112,681 for tinplate and 313,141 for galvanized steel).
During the first seven months of 2009, Kazakhstan's output of ferroalloys declined by 24.4 percent year on year to 762,716 mt.
