Russian steelmaker Novolipetsk Steel (NLMK) has announced its production and sales data for the second quarter and for the first half of the current year. According to the company’s statement, NLMK's crude steel output in the second quarter increased to 4.23 million mt, up six percent compared to the previous quarter. In the January-June period, the company’s crude steel production increased by four percent year on year to 8.22 million mt.
In the second quarter, NLMK Group's total steel product sales decreased by two percent to 3.93 million mt, while semi-finished product sales declined by 13 percent, both compared to the first quarter of this year. Meanwhile, in the first half of the current year, total steel product sales rose by one percent year on year to 8.07 million mt, as flat steel sales in the Russian and international markets grew to 4.2 million mt, rising by 10 percent compared to the same period of 2015.
In the given quarter, domestic sales totaled 2 million mt, down seven percent quarter on quarter and accounting for 51 percent of total sales, while the company’s external sales totaled 1.26 million mt, down 18 percent quarter on quarter and accounting for 32 percent of total sales, with the share of sales to associated companies accounting for 17 percent.
