The Russian steelmaker Novolipetsk Steel (NLMK) has announced that in 2010 it main production site in Lipetsk saw its sales volumes reach 9.35 million mt, up 11 percent year‐on‐year due to a significant recovery of demand for its key products both in the domestic and export markets.
In addition, NLMK said that production growth at the Lipetsk site in 2010 was additionally supported by increased slab deliveries to DanSteel and the SIF joint venture following a gradual recovery of demand in the European flat steel market.
Meanwhile, as the demand for steel in the Russian market recovered throughout the year, NLMK was able to increase all flat steel product deliveries to the internal market, significantly improving the sales mix in favor of high value‐added products (up 67 percent for dynamo steel and up 27 percent for transformer steel). In addition, production output at the NLMK's new galvanizing line in Lipetsk increased, driving galvanized steel deliveries up almost 80 percent compared to 2009.
