Norway-based iron ore producer and supplier Rana Gruber has announced that it has joined forces with local contractor HJH specialized in the mining industry within the scope of the operations at its Stensundtjern open pit magnetite mine.
Accordingly, HJH, which is currently overseeing operations at Rana Gruber’s Ørtfjell open pit iron ore mine, will take over the operations at Stensundtjern upon the conclusion of operations at Ørtfjell. Following the transition, it will be responsible for the blasting, waste rock removal, transport and daily mining activities at Stensundtjern, ensuring production efficiency. As a result, Rana Gruber’s magnetite production capacity is expected to rise to 175,000 mt per year in 2025 and to 200,000 mt per year in 2026, from 160,000 mt per year.
Additionally, following the expected commencement of the mine in question in 2025, the Norwegian miner will be able to supply high-quality iron ore to Europe.
