According to the data released by the Russian Federation's Federal Customs Service, in the first nine months of this year Russia exported 29.584 million mt of ferrous metals, registering a 6.7 percent increase year on year. Of this volume, about 27.545 mt were delivered to non-CIS countries - up 6.6 percent year on year, and 2,039 mt were supplied to CIS countries - up eight percent year on year.
Russia's exports of semi-finished steel products went up in January-September by 16.4 percent to about 12.108 million mt, its exports of ferroalloys increased by 23.4 percent to 690,300 mt, while its exports of pig iron decreased by 13 percent to 2.98 million mt and its flat rolled product exports went down by five percent to 6.451 million mt, all compared to January-September 2009.
Meanwhile, during the period in question, Russia registered a 4.6 percent increase year on year in its iron ore concentrate exports to 15.203 million mt and a 48.75 percent growth year on year in its coke and semi-coke exports to about 1.908 million mt.
On the other hand, in the first nine months of this year, Russia's ferrous metal imports increased by 51.2 percent year on year to 3.79 million mt, of which 1.57 million mt were imported from non-CIS countries - up 79 percent year on year, and 2.22 million mt were supplied from CIS countries - up 36.2 percent year on year.
Russia's steel pipe imports in January-September this year rose by 122 percent to 945,900 mt, of which 494,700 mt were imported from non-CIS countries - up 238 percent year on year, and 461,200 mt were supplied from CIS countries - up 63.3 percent year on year.
