Chinese steel producer Jingtang Iron and Steel, a subsidiary of Shougang Group, has said that in June this year it produced more than 33,000 mt of X80 pipeline steel, constituting an all-time record monthly output for the product. In addition, in June Jingtang Steel achieved cost savings of RMB 200-500/mt ($31.4-78.6/mt) in its production of X80 pipeline steel as compared to May.
As reported by SteelOrbis earlier this week, Shougang Group has won a tender for the supply of 465,000 mt of pipeline steel for the third pipeline (Huorguosi, Xinjiang-Fuzhou, Fujian) within the scope of China's west-east natural gas transmission project. Jingtang Steel is one of Shougang Group's main production bases for pipeline steel, together with Qiansteel and Shouqin, all three bases being located in Hebei Province.
