In Sweden, industrial production decreased by 2.6 percent in May this year compared to April, and fell 7.3 percent year on year in working day-adjusted figures, according to Statistics Sweden (SCB). SCB said that the decrease in April was followed by an even larger decrease in May. On month-on-month basis, new orders for industry followed the decrease in April with decreasing new orders also in May. In May, new orders decreased by 6.1 percent in working day-adjusted figures compared to the same month of the previous year.
On the other hand, the production index for the Swedish basic metal industry decreased 7.6 percent in May this year compared to the previous month, while in May the production of the country's basic metal industry decreased by 12.5 percent year on year. The country's manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment output, fell by 7.7 percent compared to May 2012.
On the other hand, in May new orders for basic metals in Sweden decreased 11.8 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, driven by the 16.1 percent decrease in domestic orders. Meanwhile, new orders for the Swedish fabricated metal products industry, except machinery and equipment, decreased by 17.1 percent in May on year-on-year basis.
