In April this year, Turkey’s iron ore imports totaled 418,343 mt, decreasing by 34.9 percent compared to March and by 66.2 percent compared to the same month of 2022, according to the statistics provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports declined by 64.9 percent year on year and by 21.3 percent month on month to $61.90 million.
In the first four months of this year, Turkey’s iron ore imports amounted to 2.26 million mt, falling by 39.9 percent, while the value of these imports moved down by 42.8 percent to $277.25 million, both compared to same period of 2022.
In the given month, Turkey’s iron ore imports from Brazil stood at 1.66 million mt, up 2.2 percent year on year. Brazil was followed by Sweden which supplied 489,777 mt, while Turkey’s iron ore imports from Russia in the given month amounted to 76,775 mt.
