According to a statement released by the Turkish Iron and Steel Producers' Association (DCUD) citing the preliminary data from Turkey's Steel Exporters' Association (CIB), in February this year Turkey's iron and steel product exports reached 1.72 million mt, up by 3.7 percent year on year.
The value of iron and steel exports in February increased 8.7 percent compared to the same month of 2011, reaching $1.48 billion.
Turkey's hot rolled sheet exports in the first two months of the current year decreased 32.3 percent year on year, falling to 166,000 mt, while the export value of the product in question was $118 million, down 26.2 percent compared to January-February 2011. However, in the first two months of this year the country's rebar exports increased by 29 percent year on year to 1.59 million mt, while Turkey's wire rod exports rose 41.2 percent year on year to 195,000 mt.
