Ukraine-based Zaporizhstal, an integrated steel mill belonging to Metinvest Group, has announced the restart of blast furnace (BF No. 5) at its full capacity following the outage implemented since March 19.

The production operations at Zaporizhstal’s BF No.5 were initially suspended for 16 days of planned maintenance works. However, the shutdown time was extended due to the deteriorating market conditions and the limited book of orders, the company said. The facility has a designed production capacity of 2,400 mt of pig iron per day.
As SteelObis reported previously, in the January-April period this year Zaporizhstal’s pig iron output decreased by 6.3 percent year on year to 1.403 million mt, with a 27.4 percent decline year on year in April alone.
