Ukrainian steel exports decline in 2008

According to the preliminary statistical data for 2008, Ukraine decreased its export of steel products by 7.4 percent to 29.851 million mt compared to 2007.

In 2008, Ukraine reduced its exports of HR steel by 7.2 percent, its rebar exports by 19.3 percent, its pig iron exports by 28.7 percent, and its ferroalloy exports by 18.4 percent year on year. The respective figures in metric tons were 7.199 million, 4.424 million, 1.472 million, and 992,770.

On the other hand, during the given period Ukrainian exports of square billet increased by 6.1 percent to 3.054 million metric tons, its slab exports went up by 12.5 percent to 4.612 million mt, and iron ore exports increased by 9.8 percent to 22.779 million mt, all compared to 2007.
