According to a report released by the UK's Office for National Statistics (ONS), in April of the current year the producer price index (PPI) for the UK manufacturing industry increased by 0.1 percent month on month and recorded a 16.6 percent year-on-year rise. In the 12 months up to April, the output price index of manufactured products for the domestic market increased 10.5 percent year on year.
In April, the UK's PPI for the basic metal industry rose by 0.1 percent from the previous month and was up 18.7 percent year on year. In the given month, the PPI for domestic manufacture of metal products, except machinery, increased by 0.3 percent compared to March and was up 3.7 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, in the imported metals sector, in April of the current year the input price index of imported basic iron and steel, ferroalloys, tube and pipes in the UK decreased by 3.7 percent month on month and was up 23.5 percent compared to April 2016, while the imported other basic metal product input price index decreased 1.1 percent compared to the previous month and was up 28.2 percent year on year.
