US rebar imports down 27.6 percent in July

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of rebar totaled 140,017 mt in July 2023, down 27.6 percent from June and down 0.6 percent from July 2022 levels. By value, rebar imports totaled $93.9 million in July 2023, compared to $123.0 million in June and $142.1 million in July 2022.

The US imported the most rebar from Egypt in July, with 52,005 mt, compared to 34,166 mt in June and zero tonnage in July 2022. Other top sources of imported rebar in July include Algeria, with 22,912 mt; Mexico, with 16,839 mt; Spain, with 15,886 mt; and Malaysia, with 9,243 mt.
