US rig count drops week-on-week while Canadian rig count increases

Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending on June 21, 2024, the US rotary rig count decreased by two to 588 as compared to the previous week.

The number of rigs drilling for gas is unchanged at 98, while the number of rigs drilling for oil decreased by three to 485. The overall US rig count is down by 94 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.

Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by 6 week on week to 166 rigs in the week ending June 21. The Canadian rig count is now down by 3 rigs compared to the same reporting period in the previous year.
