Wire rod exports from Brazil have reached 8,700 mt in November against 15,700 mt in October.
The November exports were destined to the US (5,900 mt at $770/mt), Canada (1,500 mt at $831/mt), South American countries (1,200 mt at $743/mt), and the Dominican Republic (100 mt at $572/mt), all FOB conditions.
The exporters were ArcelorMittal (7,900 mt at $783/mt), Gerdau (600 mt at $685/mt), and Simec (200 mt at $664/mt).
Meanwhile, Brazil imported 13,400 mt of wire rod in November against 15,300 mt in October.
The origins of the imports were China (6,900 mt at $537/mt), Egypt (5,000 mt at $598/mt), Russia (1,000 mt at $571/mt), and Germany (500 mt at $923/mt).
The decline of the volume imported was expected, as 41 percent of a quota of 53,000 mt was left unused until November 25, 2024, possibly reflecting the lack of interest in importing, although the balance of 51 percent can clear customs in Brazil until January 31, 2025.
