Despite the upward trend of flat steel prices throughout Europe, the sole Romanian producer has kept its hot rolled coil (HRC) prices stable and reduced its coated steel prices, while temporarily discontinuing cold rolled coil (CRC) offers. A representative of the producer stated that trade is improving compared to previous weeks, mostly due to the impending holidays and the end of the year.
“Demand is increasing toward the end of the year as most customers are restocking for the beginning of next year, but the rise is not extreme. Historically, there is a cycle of demand booking at the end of December for January-February rolling,” the mill’s representative commented to SteelOrbis.
The domestic producer's hot rolled coil (HRC) price is stable week on week at €665-670/mt ex-works, while it has held back offers for cold rolled coil (CRC), which were at €795/mt ex-works in the previous week.
On the other hand, the producer has cut local pricing for PPGI and HDG, to €780-785/mt ex-works from €825/mt ex-works and to €1,055-1,080/mt ex-works from €1,115/mt ex-works, respectively.
Meanwhile, in the flat steel spot market, prices are still unchanged amid stable demand. According to reports, prices for hot rolled sheets (HRS) and cold rolled sheets (CRS) are stable at €760-780/mt ex-warehouse and €845-850/mt ex-warehouse, respectively.
In the import segment, reports state that HDG (0.5 mm with Zn100) from Turkey has been offered at €870/mt delivered to Romania, while HRS from Bulgaria has been offered at about €680-690/mt DAP. As regards heavy plates, Italy has increased its offers by €10/mt to €770/mt DAP.
