While Romanian-based flat steel spot traders who continue to maintain satisfactory levels of trading in the domestic market have continued to keep offer prices stable, the country's sole flat steel producer has decided to make different price adjustments this week, resulting in a decrease in hot rolled coil (HRC) prices and an increase in coated prices. The main reason for the fall in HRC prices is most likely due to the pressure from other European flat producers' lower prices.
As a result, the sole flat steel producer has reduced hot rolled coil prices week on week to €685-690/mt ex-works from €725-730/mt ex-works. Meanwhile, it has decided not to provide cold rolled coil (CRC) prices, but rather to provide a price for regular customers who ask for a price.
“We are not offering CRC. We are only booking with a couple of regular customers but, as such, we do not offer CRC,” a representative of the sole producer told SteelOrbis
In the coated section, however, the mill's domestic pricing for HDG and PPGI has risen week on week by €5-10/mt and €10-30/mt to €785-790/mt ex-works and €1,085-1,090/mt ex-works, respectively.
On the other hand, Romanian traders who are seeing consistent demand levels have continued to give the same offers as the previous week in the spot market. According to sources, prices for hot rolled sheets (HRS) and cold rolled sheets (CRS) are stable week on week at €790-820/mt ex-warehouse and €900-950/mt ex-warehouse, respectively.
Other than that, in the import market, Turkey's offers for hot rolled coil have continued to decline, with FOB prices at $625-650/mt and, with freight costs of around €25/mt, and so with the price to Romania at around €600-625/mt CFR, down from €605-630/mt CFR in previous weeks.
