As expected, Algerian Qatari Steel (AQS) continues to take steps towards a wider presence in the European rebar market. The producer has obtained new rebar certification, this time for sales to Scandinavian countries.

This week, AQS has obtained rebar sales certification for the markets of Sweden, Norway and Denmark. The document covers reinforcing steel in bars according to K500B-T, K500C-T 8-40 mm, B500NB 8-40 mm, B500B, B500C 8-40 mm. The certificate was issued on October 26 and is valid until October 26, 2028.

As a result, the company currently has certification to sell rebar to Poland, Lithuania and the abovementioned Scandinavian countries. In addition, according to sources, AQS is about to obtain certification for sales to Finland.

With these moves, AQS is securing a wider opportunity to become a solid rebar supplier to Europe, particularly in the Baltic region. Currently, AQS has the capacity to produce 2.5 million mt of DRI per year and 2.4 million mt of crude steel. In the longs segment, AQS is capable of producing 1.5 million mt of rebar and 500,000 mt of wire rod per year.
