Baosteel releases ex-factory prices for May

On March 19, Baosteel announced its ex-factory prices for certain products for May, posting an upward adjustment of RMB 200-600/mt ($28-85/mt) from the previous levels. The details are as follows:

I. Wire rod
Prices have increased by RMB 400-600/mt ($57-85/mt).

II. Hot rolled
1. The prices of SPHC are up by RMB 300/mt ($42/mt) from April levels. Thus, the price of SPHC 3.0 mm x 1,250 mm x C is RMB 5,142/mt ($728/mt).

2. Prices of SS400, Q235 and shipbuilding sheet (coil) remain unchanged.

III. Hot rolled and pickled
Prices have increased RMB 300/mt ($42/mt).

IV. Cold rolled
The prices of SPCC, BLC, and DC01(St12) have increased RMB 400/mt ($57/mt). As a result, the price of SPCC 1.0 mm x 1,250 mm x C is RMB 5,996/mt ($849/mt).

V. Full Hard coil
Compared to the April prices, May prices are up RMB 300/mt ($42/mt) overall.

VI. Hot dip galvanized
Prices have risen RMB 300/mt ($42/mt).

VII. Color coated
Prices have increased RMB 200/mt ($28/mt).

VIII. Steel pipe
Prices have gone up RMB 300/mt ($42/mt).

Q2 prices are in effect for the other steel products.

All the above prices exclude taxes (17 percent VAT) and are effective as of March 19, 2008.
