Brazilian exports of pig iron have reached 479,600 mt in October, against 251,800 mt in September, according to customs. The increase reflects chiefly 89 percent more exports in volume to the US.
The main destinations in August were the US (397,500 mt at $419/mt), Europe (43,100 mt at $453/mt), South America (29,700 mt at $363/mt), Mexico (5,300 mt at $456/mt), Asia (4,000 mt at $510/mt), all FOB conditions.
The shipments were from producers in the southeastern states of Minas Gerais and Espirito Santo (354,300 mt at $422/mt), Maranhão and Pará, in the north (76,100 mt at $425/mt) and Mato Grosso do Sul, in the central western region (49,200 mt at $396/mt).
During the first 10 months of 2023, Brazil exported a total of 3.29 million mt of pig iron, against 3.11 million mt during the same period of 2022.
