In April this year, production and sales of automotive vehicles in China amounted to 2.0675 million units and 2.0042 million units, down by 6.1 percent and 7.6 percent month on month respectively, while both figures were up 8.8 percent year on year, as announced by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM). In the first four months of the current year, production and sales of automotive vehicles in China totaled 7.953 million units and 7.9251 million units, up by 9.0 percent and 9.1 percent year on year, respectively.
In particular, the output and sales volumes of passenger vehicles in China in April this year totaled 1.6674 million units and 1.609 million units, decreasing by 4.6 percent and 5.9 percent month on month respectively, while up 11.3 percent and 11.6 percent year on year. In the January-April period of the year, the output and sales volumes of passenger vehicles in China totaled 6.4599 million units and 6.4775 million units, up 9.8 percent and 10.5 percent year on year, respectively.
As for commercial vehicles, domestic output and sales in China in April this year amounted to 400,100 units and 395,200 units, down 0.2 percent and 1.3 percent year on year, while decreasing by 11.8 percent and 13.9 percent on month-on-month basis, respectively. In the first four months, domestic output and sales of commercial vehicles in China totaled 1.4931 million mt and 1.4476 million mt, up 5.5 percent and 3.3 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, also in April, China's auto export volume amounted to 78,100 units, down 8.6 percent month on month and decreasing by 12.6 percent year on year, including 46,500 passenger vehicles and 31,600 commercial vehicles, down 4.1 percent and 14.5 percent on month-on-month basis, while decreasing by 13.3 percent and 11.7 percent year on year. In the first four months of the year, China's auto export volume totaled 286,800 units, down 9.3 percent year on year.
