CAAM: China’s auto output rises by 9.5 percent in January-July

In July this year, production and sales of automotive vehicles in China amounted to 1.7202 million units and 1.6181 million units, down 7.3 percent and 12.3 percent month on month respectively, while up 8.6 percent and 6.7 percent year on year, as announced by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM). In the first seven months of the year, production and sales of automotive vehicles in China totaled 11.5045 million units and 13.3017 million units, up by 9.5 percent and 8.2 percent year on year respectively, with these growth rates 3.0 and 3.8 percentage points lower compared to the same period last year.
 
In particular, the output and sales volumes of passenger vehicles in China in July this year totaled 1.4727 million units and 1.3579 million units, decreasing by 7.9 percent and 13.2 percent month on month respectively, while up 13.4 percent and 9.7 percent year on year. In the January-July period of the year, the output and sales volumes of passenger vehicles in China totaled 11.1812 million units and 10.9918 million units, up 12.2 percent and 11 percent year on year, respectively.
 
As for commercial vehicles, domestic output and sales in July this year amounted to 247,500 units and 260,200 units, down 3.5 percent and 7.6 percent month on month, while decreasing by 13 percent and 6.7 percent on year-on-year, respectively. In the first seven months, domestic output and sales of commercial vehicles in China amounted to 2.3233 million mt and 2.3099 million mt, down 2.1 percent and 3.6 percent year on year.
 
Meanwhile, also in July, China's auto export volume amounted to 71,700 units, down 11.5 percent month on month and decreasing by 10.7 percent year on year, including 39,600 passenger vehicles and 32,100 commercial vehicles, down 16.3 percent and 4.7 percent on month-on-month basis, while down 21.5 percent and up 7.4 percent year on year, respectively. In the first seven months of the year, China's auto export volume totaled 516,600 units, down 9 percent year on year.
