CAAM: China’s auto output rises by 9.6 percent in H1

In June this year, production and sales of automotive vehicles in China amounted to 1.8556 million units and 1.8458 million units, down 6.1 percent and 3.4 percent month on month respectively, while up 10.8 percent and 5.2 percent year on year, as announced by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM). In the first half of the year, production and sales of automotive vehicles in China totaled 11.7834 million units and 11.6835 million units, up by 9.6 percent and 8.4 percent year on year respectively, with these growth rates 3.2 and 3.9 percentage points lower compared to the same period last year.

In particular, the output and sales volumes of passenger vehicles in China in June this year totaled 1.599 million units and 1.5641 million units, decreasing by 3.1 percent and 1.7 percent month on month respectively, while up 17.4 percent and 11.5 percent year on year. In the January-June period of the year, the output and sales volumes of passenger vehicles in China totaled 9.7085 million units and 9.6338 million units, up 12.1 percent and 11.2 percent year on year, respectively.

As for commercial vehicles, domestic output and sales in June this year amounted to 256,600 units and 281,700 units, down 21.3 percent and 12.2 percent year on year, while decreasing by 17.6 percent and 19.7 percent on month-on-month basis, respectively. In the first six months, domestic output and sales of commercial vehicles in China amounted to 2.0749 million mt and 2.0497 million mt, down 0.6 percent and 3.2 percent year on year.

Meanwhile, also in June, China's auto export volume amounted to 81,000 units, up 6.1 percent month on month and decreasing by 4.5 percent year on year, including 47,300 passenger vehicles and 33,700 commercial vehicles, up 10.3 percent and 0.8 percent on month-on-month basis, while down 2.2 percent and 7.6 percent year on year, respectively. In the first six months of the year, China's auto export volume totaled 444,900 units, down 8.8 percent year on year.
