CAAM: China’s auto output up 7.26 percent in 2014

In 2014, production and sales of automotive vehicles in China amounted to 23.7229 million units and 23.4919 million units, up 7.26 percent and 6.86 percent year on year respectively, while these growth rates slowed down by 7.5 percentage points and 7 percentage points compared to 2013, as announced by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) on January 13. In December alone, production and sales of automotive vehicles in China totaled 2.2887 million units and 2.4101 million units, up 5.92 percent and 15.27 percent month on month respectively.

In particular, the output and sales volumes of passenger vehicles in China in 2014 totaled 19.9198 million units and 19.7006 million units, increasing by 10.2 percent and 9.9 percent year on year respectively, with the growth rates in question down 6.3 and 5.8 percentage points year on year.

As for commercial vehicles, domestic output and sales in 2014 amounted to 3.8031 million units and 3.7913 million units, down 5.7 percent and 6.5 percent year on year.

Meanwhile, in 2014, China's auto export volume amounted to 910,400 units, down 6.9 percent year on year, including 533,000 passenger vehicles and 377,300 commercial vehicles, down 10.6 percent and one percent on year-on-year basis, respectively.
