China’s rebar output up 0.3 percent in January-September

In the January-September period this year, China’s rebar production totaled 174.624 million mt, up 0.3 percent year on year, according to China’s National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

In the first nine months this year, wire rod production amounted to 106.783 million mt, remaining stable year on year.

In the same period, China’s welded pipe output reached 48.194 million mt, up 11.1 percent year on year.

In September alone, China’s rebar, wire rod and welded pipe outputs amounted to 18.624 million mt, 12.314 million mt and 5.769 million mt, down 11.4 percent, down 2.7 percent and up 0.4 percent year on year, while down 0.83 percent, up 3.43 percent and up 5.2 percent month on month, respectively.

In September, rebar prices increased first, while moving down later, with the highest level in September at RMB 3,873/mt seen on September 19-20, and the lowest level of RMB 3,783/mt recorded on September 8-10, according to SteelOrbis’ data.
