China’s rebar output up 2.4% in January-July, down slightly month on month in July

In the January-July period this year, China’s rebar production output totaled 137.242 million mt, up 2.4 percent year on year, according to China’s National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

In the first seven months this year, wire rod production output amounted to 82.989 million mt, up 2 percent year on year.

In the same period, China’s welded pipe output reached 35.079 million mt, up 13.1 percent year on year.

In July alone, China’s rebar, wire rod and welded pipe outputs amounted to 20.151 million mt, 12.23 million mt and 5.211 million mt, up 18.8 percent, 11 percent and 11.3 percent year on year, while down 2.27 percent, 2.48 percent and 13.57 percent month on month, respectively.

Rebar prices decreased first in July, while moved up later, though saw a declining trend in August, with the highest level in July of RMB 3,843/mt seen on July 27, and the lowest level in July of RMB 3,733/mt recorded on July 10, according to SteelOrbis’ data.
