China’s steel bar export up 129.4 percent in January-February

In the January-February period this year, China’s exports of steel bars totaled 1.75 million mt, up 129.4 percent year on year, while its wire rod exports amounted to 320,000 mt, rising by 12.3 percent year on year, according to the Chinese customs authorities. At the same time, China’s export volumes of angles/channels came to 730,000 mt in the given period, up 96.8 percent year on year.

In February alone, China’s export of steel bars amounted to 1.02 million mt, up 153.6 percent year on year, while its exports of wire rod and angles/channels amounted to 130,000 mt and 340,000 mt, up 24.1 percent and up 103.7 percent year on year, respectively.  

Starting from the beginning of this year, Chinese rebar export prices have indicated an overall upward trend amid good expectations for the market and anticipated good demand from downstream users.
