In September this year, China’s finished steel exports declined by 2.6 percent on month to 8.063 million mt, while indicating a strong 61.9 percent increase year on year, according to the latest data released by China's General Administration of Customs (GACC) on October 13.

Chinese mills remained interested in exports of steel in September, with exports also expected to be relatively stable in October and November, given the lower-than-expected seasonal demand in September, usually the strongest month of the year.

China's finished steel exports amounted to 66.818 million mt in the January-September period this year, increasing by 31.8 percent year on year. The pace of growth increased from 28.4 percent seen in the January-August period.

In September, China’s finished steel imports totaled 640,000 mt, remaining stable month on month, while down 28.1 percent year on year. In the first nine months of the year, China imported 5.698 million mt of finished steel, declining by 31.7 percent year on year.
