According to the data released by the China Iron and Steel Association (CISA), as of the end of March this year (March 31) the composite steel price index (CSPI) for the Chinese domestic market was at 68.87 points, up 8.83 points or 14.71 percent month on month, while decreasing by 6.56 points or 8.70 percent on year-on-year basis.
At the end of March this year, the CSPI long steel index was at 68.28 points, up 8.13 points or 13.52 percent month on month and decreasing by 7.75 points or 10.19 percent year on year, while the CSPI flat steel index stood at 71.26 points, up 9.86 points or 16.06 percent month on month and declining by 4.69 points or 6.18 percent year on year.
As of the end of March this year, among the eight main steel products monitored by the CISA, prices of high-speed wire rod, rebar, angles, medium plate, hot rolled coil (HRC), cold rolled sheet (CRS), hot dip galvanized (HDG) and seamless pipe increased by RMB 290/mt ($44.75/mt), RMB 274/mt ($42.28/mt), RMB 276/mt ($42.59/mt), RMB 429/mt ($66.20/mt), RMB 369/mt ($56.94/mt), RMB 407/mt ($62.81/mt), RMB 426/mt ($65.74/mt) and RMB 181/mt ($27.93/mt) respectively, all compared to prices at the end of February this year.
