The positive trend in residential construction permits in Germany continued in the first half of 2013.

As reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), building permits for a total of 124,900 dwellings were granted in Germany in January-June this year. Compared with the first half of 2012, this indicates an increase of 9.6 percent or 10,900 buildings, following the 4.8 percent year-on-year increase recorded in 2012.

In 2012, the year-on-year rise in building permits for dwellings in Germany had maintained the positive trend observed since 2010, though the growth rate was significantly below the 21.7 percent year-on-year increase seen in 2011.
