New orders in German construction industry down 2.9% in Jan-Apr

As reported by the German Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), the total price-adjusted value of orders received by building construction and civil and underground engineering enterprises in Germany increased by 2.1 percent in April this year compared to the same month of 2012.

In April, building construction demand in Germany increased by five percent, while demand in civil and underground engineering was down by 0.9 percent, both on year-on-year basis. The total turnover in building construction in Germany amounted in April this year to around €7.2 billion, indicating an increase of one percent compared to April 2012.

In the first four months of 2013, new orders in German building construction decreased by 2.9 percent, on year-on-year basis. The total turnover in building construction in Germany amounted in the first four months to around €21.1 billion, indicating an increase of 6.5 percent compared to the same period of 2012.
