German industrial output up 1.2 percent in Q1

In March this year, calendar and seasonally adjusted industrial production in Germany decreased 0.4 percent compared to the previous month, according to the preliminary data released by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.

According to the ministry's report, production decreased by 2.2 percent in the construction sector in March, while intermediate goods manufacturers saw their production decrease by 0.9 percent, output of consumer goods rose by 0.5 percent and output of capital goods moved down by 0.2 percent, all compared to the previous month.

Meanwhile, in the first quarter of this year, industrial output increased by 1.2 percent in Germany, while construction sector output rose 4.7 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
