Indian steel consumption up 4.6 percent in August

Indian steel consumption in August this year was recorded at 7.42 million metric tons, up 4.6 percent year on year, according to a Ministry of Steel report released on Thursday, September 21. Steel consumption in August increased by 7.4 percent compared to July.

Exports of finished steel from India during the April-August period amounted to 3.73 million metric tons, an increase of 57.1 percent over the corresponding period of the previous year, according to the report.

At the same time, imports of finished steel in the April-August period were recorded at 3.458 million metric tons, up by 15.9 percent year on year.
