India’s Jindal Hunting Energy Services Limited (JHESL), a 51:49 joint venture of Jindal SAW Limited and US-based Hunting Energy Services Limited, has completed construction of India’s first facility for the production of steel pipes, tubes, and premium connectors for the oil country tubular goods (OCTG) market, a company statement said on Tuesday, September 19.
The plant for producing OCTG was set up by the partners with an investment of $240 million and seeks to replace an estimated $200 million worth of products imported into the country every year, the company said.
“The facility will not only support the domestic oil and gas industry but also holds the potential to achieve significant exports to global markets,” it said. The plant has been constructed within Jindal Saw Limited’s existing manufacturing facility in Nasik in the western state of Maharashtra.
The facility will thread Hunting’s premium connections, ranging from 2-3 to 8 inches to 20 inches, and providing large welded connectors, spanning from 20 inches to 36 inches, offering a comprehensive range across various grades of iron and steel as well as alloy steel and value-added grades, the statement said.
The facility is set to achieve an annual threading capacity of 70,000 mt per year of OCTG and will be fully supported by a seamless supply chain, drawing raw materials and inputs from the Jindal SAW facility in Nashik and its other locations across the country.
