Production of crude steel in Italy has continued to increase. According to the latest update released by Federacciai, the Italian federation of steel companies, Italy produced around 1.753 million mt of crude steel in July this year, up by 9.2 percent year on year. The year-to-date production figure, up to the end of July, still shows a decline, as shown in the following table.

As for long and flat steel products, in July longs production amounted to 960,000 mt (up 6.3 percent year on year), while flats production totaled 846,000 mt (up 7.4 percent year on year).
