According to the statistics released by the Italian steel producers' association Federacciai, in the first eight months of the current year Italy's steel exports to non-EU destinations reached 4.025 million metric tons, up by 26.9 percent, while its steel imports from non-EU countries totaled 4.137 million metric tons, down 38.8 percent, both compared to the same period of 2011.
Long steel exports to countries outside the EU in the abovementioned period reached 1.353 million mt, up 57.3 percent, while flat steel exports to these countries reached 1.478 million mt, up 30.8 percent, both year on year.
