Japanese auto output up 11.8 percent in January-August

According to the data provided by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA), in August this year Japanese automobile production (including passenger cars, trucks and buses) totaled 639,383 units, rising by 9.4 percent compared to the same month of 2022. Meanwhile, in the January-August period, Japanese automobile production grew by 11.8 percent year on year to 5,741,602 units.

Domestic automobile sales in August in Japan stood at 340,341 vehicles, rising by 17.3 percent as compared with the same month of 2022. Meanwhile, in the first eight months, domestic automobile sales in Japan moved up by 16.3 percent year on year to 3,169,993 units.     

In the meantime, the country’s automobile exports in August amounted to 354,697 units, up by 20.7 percent year on year. In the January-August period Japanese automobile exports grew by 16.4 percent year on year to 2,774,827 units.
