Japanese Nidec will invest $23 million in plant expansion in Mexico

The Japanese multinational Nidec Corporation, manufacturer of electric motors, announced that it will invest $23 million to expand its operations in its plant located in the border city of Reynosa, Tamaulipas, according to press reports.

No start dates for the productive expansion were specified, although they mentioned that the investment will generate 384 additional jobs.

This is the second expansion of the operations. In 1995, it was installed for the first time in Reynosa, in 2019 they announced their first expansion with an investment of $25 million (an amount equivalent to $30 million in present value).

Company information shows that in Mexico it has plants in Reynosa and also the border city of Juárez, Chihuahua. As of last March, Juárez registered a payroll of 1,663 people.
