Japan’s steel exports rise by six percent in Feb over Jan

According to the customs statistics released by the Japanese Ministry of Finance, Japan's steel exports in February this year amounted to 3.72 million metric tons, rising by 8.6 percent year on year and up six percent as compared to January.

Regarding Japan's major steel export markets, in February the country's steel exports to South Korea totaled 775,698 metric tons, down 9.5 percent; exports to China rose 6.7 percent, reaching 615,251 metric tons; the export volume to Taiwan reached 315,935 metric tons, up eight percent; exports to Thailand totaled 380,930 metric tons, rising by 7.5 percent; while exports to the US came to 125,051 metric tons, decreasing slightly by 0.4 percent, all compared to February 2010.
